Buying Sunny Days with Stormy Weather Ahead

$75 billion? No problem!

Avedon has a post full of links that suggest the foxes are simply giving the henhouse a passing grade.

This comment on the Masters of the Economy seems applicable,

"Mainstream economists" play the same role as the confessors to the Catholic kings: they provide a theoretical justification for the mighty to do what they were going to do anyway...

Right enough, and the energy crisis like the economic crisis is an entirely human problem. The problems we have are inherent in a system where, to quote another fine comment elsewhere,

...Government is institutionalized violence. It cannot operate without force and fraud. Through taxation, licensure, cartels, and prohibition, it stops willing buyers and willing sellers from trading for their mutual benefit. Speaking of energy, the deep solar minimum we've had since 2007 may finally be ending.

One hopes things are looking up, and those who keep track of such things have evidence the solar cycle may be on the upswing once more:



It's nice to know we've put off another Ice Age for at least ten years. Now if we can just be so lucky with the next hurricane season.
