Because nothing is ever the military's fault

After all, they have the guns:

...Simply stated, we cannot continue sending service members into combat for three tours, four tours, five tours and more without paying a horrendous price in terms of the psychological well-being of the troops and their families, and the overall readiness of the armed forces to protect the nation.

The breakdowns are already occurring and will only get worse as the months and years pass and we remain engaged in the conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq. None of this is the military’s fault. There have not been nearly enough people willing to serve in the all-volunteer armed forces to properly staff two wars that have already gone on for the better part of a decade...

Certainly not enough for an Empire. Certainly not enough for policies created by a military industrial complex.

And look at the real number of unemployed. Almost on out of five people in America has no job. All of that meat, just waiting for the grinder.

Until we solve the real problems facing our society and put down the snake oil ideas for cures that only serve to worsen the disease- like the setting up a draft to fuel the imperial Moloch- the real problems will only get worse.

Of course, if you're the kind of vampire squid that likes all that blood, it could only improve the situation for you.
