I guess 'thirty billion years' was the old British usage -- star formation will continue for a trillion years at least.
Actually it feels a bit ominous to me, that we appear to exist so very early in the universe's projected lifetime. At least one string theory variant claims another big bang could happen without warning, due to a collision with another universe in a higher dimension, wiping out all structure that exists now.
Anyway, was that Dawkins? I don't recognize anyone by voice.
"There is only one thing for it then--to learn. Learn why the world wags and what wags it. That is the only thing which the mind can never exhaust, never alienate, never be tortured by, never fear or distrust, and never dream of regretting..."
-T.H. White, The Once and Future King
No Hell below us,
above us only sky...
-John Lennon, Imagine
