Jail Yoo Too

Avedon pointed to Ezra Klein's justified anger over John Yoo's tenure at Berkley.

I agree with this comment, it's not just free speech when he's writing legal opinions for Bu$hCo.

This can't be repeated often enough:

Yoo didn't express unpopular ideas.

Yoo committed war crimes.

Yoo did not cry "Fire" in a crowded theater - he lit torches and passed them out.

Actions, not words. There are people who are dead because of Yoo.

Now, Yoo is teaching. Passing the torch, as it were, to the next generation. Teaching impressionable young minds that torture is no big deal, and that the commander in chief can do absolutely anything he wants if he believes it will make the country safer...

Now I know what it takes to get tenure at a major University. No wonder I've never managed it. All I need to do is raise R’lyeh or open Yog-Sothoth.

And neither acts are as monstrous, or as potentially destructive for the world, as the destruction of Constitutional Law in the Republic that Yoo's managed to accomplish.

Because, you know, unlike the fanatasies of Lovecraft, Yoo really did it. With more than a little help from his friends, of course.

Ezra, Harvard and MIT might want to commission that time machine for their colleagues at Berkley before it's all over, but fat lot of good it will do this timeline if Titor's right...
