How do you make a sitting duck secure in the 21st century?

I mean really, battleships? In the age of missiles and fighters?

Why, laser cannon of course.

They're too big (so far) to mount on airplanes. But on battleships? Computer and secondary laser guided, with 50 mile line of sight ranges? You betcha.

Don't give me any of this "Top Secret" biz about experimental weapons. That's so Cold War. Now they save that label for the CIA's opium runners from Afghanistan. This laser ordnance stuff has been in the mil geek mags since Rummy zombified Star Wars.

The Company will just love selling all the shiny pricey hardware to the highest bidders.
