It'll work like Vista

Or better yet, Explorer:

...Billionaire Bill Gates has patented the idea to halt hurricanes by decreasing the surface temperature of the ocean.

The patent calls for a large fleet of specially equipped ships which would mix warm water from the ocean surface with colder water down below, according to five new patents that include Microsoft's chairman as a co-inventor. That could then reduce or perhaps eliminate the heat-driven condensation which hurricanes feed upon, thus significantly reducing their intensity...

[tip o'teh tinfoil to Cryptogon]

Will somebody explain to these morons what actually happens in a hurricane? The surface heat has to go somewhere. You just pump the warm relatively fresh surface water into the cold briney deep- and play Hell with the deep sea conveyor currents, not to mention the surface and benthic ecosystems.

Ham-handed and bone-headed myopic hubris.

When one can walk across Lake Washington to reach Mercer Island, one hopes Mister Gates realizes what a colossal disaster his ego has been for the world he lives in.

On second thought: this may not be a bug, but a Feature of his system.
