Poppy Strikes Back

So much for Cheneyburton dissing the Iraq Study Group and the Saudi Royals last Fall.

So much for posturing about the Plamegate that never quite seems won for either side.

Here's the real reason for Karl's bug out, and it wasn't the subpoenas. Or subpoenae. It's 'cause he needs to see his family, and because Dear Leader's got a whole new game!

If you're gullible enough to take it at face value:

With Rove’s Departure, a New Era

CRAWFORD, Tex., Aug. 14 — President Bush took the White House in 2001 with Texas swagger, and promptly filled the West Wing with fellow Texans who shared his ideology and determination to fundamentally change the way the capital worked...

Boyo, Mission Accomplished! Gimme a lighter for this copy of the Constitution, pardner.

...Six years later, the departure of Karl Rove from Mr. Bush’s brain trust will bring an end to that outsider approach. With the exception of Vice President Dick Cheney, Mr. Bush’s inner circle is now populated entirely by the kinds of Washington pragmatists and insiders whom the incoming president had seemed to dismiss openly...

That's right. He only seemed to diss 'em. Time for a nice, shiny new insider approach.

Couched in the warm and fuzzy glow of pangyric fluff piece, and there've been quite a few of them over the last 24 hours, the facts boil down to this: the Consigliere presented Dear Leader with a plan. Dear Leader, doubtless at Rove and Cheney's behest, laughed it off. The King was not amused.

So much, sooner or later, Karl had to walk, to spin his agenda another day.
